In the congested lanes of old Srinagar, 20-year-old Iqra lives with her mother and three sisters in accommodation provided by her aunt. After her father passed away in 2012, the family was displaced and left to start from nothing.

Caravan became the family's support system during this difficult time. Iqra's mother refused to remarry and worked tirelessly to provide for her children with dignity.

Today, Iqra is graduating in the arts and is also a national-level football player who has represented her state across India. With Caravan's support, she received professional training and opportunities to grow.

Currently preparing for the IAS examinations, Iqra dreams of becoming an IAS officer to secure a stable future for her family, in shā' Allāh.

Maroofa

Political Science Graduate & Community Educator

Maroofa joined the Caravan family in 2012 at the age of ten. After losing her father, she witnessed her mother's struggle with poverty firsthand.

With financial aid and consistent encouragement, Maroofa grew into a confident young woman and is currently graduating in Political Science. She has also completed a diploma in system management.

During the Kashmir lockdown in 2019, Maroofa started free coaching classes for children in her locality who were unable to attend school. Caravan supported her initiative by providing necessary resources.

Maroofa now aspires to pursue a Master's degree in Sociology and continues to uplift others through education, in shā' Allāh.

Ufaira

Ufaira Farooq became part of Caravan in 2013. After her father's passing, she and her mother faced continuous hardship, frequent relocation, and severe health challenges.

While preparing for her 12th examinations, Ufaira's mother suffered serious burn injuries and kidney failure. Despite this, Ufaira passed with 90% marks, studying late into the night to balance caregiving responsibilities.

Caravan's support ensured Ufaira's education continued during the family's most difficult years. Today, she dreams of becoming financially independent and preparing for the IAS examinations, all while caring for her ailing mother.

Alongside her studies, Ufaira has memorised two juz of the Holy Qur'an and finds peace through art and painting.

Shireen joined Caravan in 2010 at the age of five after her father passed away in a tragic road accident. As the family's sole breadwinner was lost, the family was left in urgent need.

Today, Shireen is pursuing her postgraduate degree in English, has completed a computer course, and is skilled in sewing — enabling her to contribute financially to her household.

Shireen describes Caravan as the light that appeared in their lives when hope seemed distant.

Snober was in the 7th standard when her father passed away after a long illness. Caravan began supporting her family in 2012, providing monthly financial assistance and medical support for her mother.

Despite setbacks with NEET examinations and her mother's declining health, Snober persevered. She was selected for CET in 2017 and is currently training as a pathologist in a well-reputed laboratory in Srinagar.

Snober credits her faith and perseverance as the source of her strength and hopes to pursue a Master's degree in Pathology.
