2010 • Jammu & Kashmir
In 2010, a visit to Jammu & Kashmir revealed the stark realities faced by widows and orphaned children living in profound poverty. Political instability and geographical remoteness deprived families of even the most basic resources.
Beyond the financial hardships, these women faced profound social isolation, often finding themselves marginalized and cut off from the very community support networks they needed to survive.
These first-hand encounters exposed an urgent humanitarian need and became the catalyst for action.

Responding to this urgent need, Caravan was established in May 2010 under the patronage of the Sheikhul-Hind Educational Charitable Trust (Reg. 5931) in New Delhi, India.
